Life outside of sport always involved design in one form or another for Steve - he has lectured in design, mentored students, worked for a major US publishing house and advised on in-house design management. In 2004 he started Lavahouse Associates design consultancy which has gone from strength to strength and now holds a diverse portfolio of clients. A specialist in brand development, design narratives and strategy, Steve closely manages each project with the selected team.
As a professional skier and high level coach - his sporting life took him to the USA, Japan, Scandinavia and the Alps. He has represented his country, coached at the highest level, worked as a professional paraglider pilot and was part of a top adventure race team in 2004. He is also a director of the Kendal Mountain Festival having helped develop the organisation into the award winning international event that it is today.
A proud New Zealander - Jacqui comes from a marketing and political science background, working across a variety of sectors to deliver marketing strategies that are relevant. Jacqui is a highly talented strategic thinker, with a long-range approach to problem-solving and decision-making that involves objective analysis, thinking ahead and planning to ensure that any creative solutions have the right business relevance. She also keeps a watchful eye on clients' budgets and work deadlines.
Jacqui has wide ranging experience in the outdoor industry working in retail, adventure travel and as part of the marketing team for some of the world's biggest outdoor brands. Jacqui is a passionate photographer and advocate of outdoor life and travel, with a passion for skiing and biking. Having also lived and worked in Nepal, Japan, Aspen - USA, Australia, Austria, Switzerland and Ethiopia she has many stories to tell!
Clive has worked as a consultant alongside the MOUNTAIN team for several years. He is one of the UK's go-to PR experts for Outdoor brands and his track record is very impressive. With insider experience and strategic knowledge plus a former senior marketing role for Lowe Alpine, makes him an invaluable asset to our strategic team.
Clive is also a fellow director with Steve on the board of Kendal Mountain Festival. An accomplished climber - he has 'cragged' extensively both in the UK and overseas,
Originally from Prague, Petra holds a First Class Honours degree in Graphic Design and has also trained in jewellery design. She is meticulous and highly creative and brings a 'handcrafted' element to the MOUNTAIN team. A fantastic award winning illustrator and multimedia 'explorer', Petra gives an added creative dimension to our clients' projects.
In her free time Petra loves hill walking and cycling and has recently been initiated to sport climbing by the in-house team!
Jenny studied at Kingston University, and spent the last 4 years in London, working at a variety of top UK design agencies, smaller design studios and plenty of freelance projects - giving her experience from a variety of industry perspectives.
Her work centred around wayfinding signage for the last couple of years as she worked on the London 2012 Olympic Stadium wayfinding.
Originally from Devon, she decided to leave London and bring her design skills to Kendal where she could combine her creative work with a life in the outdoors where she can enjoy exploring the hills on foot, by bike and in the water. Jenny is an experienced triathlete (Iron Man distance) and open water swimmer.
Clare joined MOUNTAIN after running her own business (funky hat designs for climbers and outdoor folk) and has a degree in Graphic Design. Her inherent creativity and a good understanding of business needs prove to be a valuable asset to us. Clare has a strong ability to quickly and precisely understand the client’s brief and see how it can be clearly applied across a wide spectrum of applications.
She's also a great climber with a second home at the local wall!
Rachel has 10 years of experience working within the outdoor industry and has a strong climbing and mountaineering background within the UK, Europe and the Himalaya. Having worked as a highly respected buyer for one of the UK's leading outdoor chains, Rachel brings a wealth of retail know-how that proves invaluable to our team.
Based in Kendal she now enjoys running, biking and swimming in the local area. She has recently taken up Orienteering, keen to brush up on those important map skills!
Stuart has been taking photographs for longer than he wants to remember and has an extensive library of mountain travel, adventure sports and landscape photographs from around the world. He is an accomplished fell runner, climber, mountaineer, skier and paraglider pilot and his photographs have been published and exhibited widely.
Wild and mountainous landscapes are Stuart's passion and photography often provides the necessary motivation to explore these places. Putting in the effort when the location, weather or time of the day is outside of the comfort zone often rewards with spectacular scenes that few people witness.
Nadir has been a photographer for the past 30 years, starting as a student at Glasgow university, he used to sell images of climbing trips in the Highlands of Scotland to fund his passion.
Nadir's work embraces all elements of adventure sports, whether it's snowboarding or skiing, ice climbing, kayaking or mountain biking, there are creative ways to capture moments of excitement and drama that convey those emotions to the viewer. His work has been published widely in the climbing press nationally and internationally.
From an early age Tony has had a passion for travel and adventure and took up photography as a means to record the world around him. He has also worked in graphic design with big multi-nationals agencies both in the UK and overseas. Having decided life outside the city had more to offer he sought the outdoor industry and relocated to the hills choosing to head up the design team of an international outdoor brand. He also took on the role of staff photographer and within a few years launched his own photographic business.
His outdoor clients range from niche specialists to the big international brands and he's as happy shooting in his studio for a back yard start-up as he is on a full catalogue shoot in Patagonia.
Henry has been a full time professional photographer for nearly 20 years and has been participating in outdoor sports since being a young child. Having started skiing aged 5 he has represented Great Britain at Speed Skiing, been involved with mountaineering exploits in Europe, North America and Asia, and cycled across a range of disciplines at an elite level.
His action sports, documentary and portrait photography has been commissioned by a variety of commercial, non-profit and news organisations. Henry’s aim is to produce images that not only sit within the discourse that is contemporary art and culture but also compliment the very best in commercial print and digital media.
Matt is a multi disciplined freelance remote and extreme location cameraman, filmmaker, and photographer. He has worked all over the world, from filming tent bound alpinists in remote parts of Patagonia, to shooting aurora timelapses in Greenlandic winter. Matt has also worked extensively throughout Sub-Saharan Africa and has worked on multiple occasions in places such as Rwanda, Mozambique and the DRC. He is on of the UKs top specialists in operating UAV/drone mounted stablised camera systems in remote locations.
Matt joins the Mountain Creative team having working internationally as a director, producer and DoP. He has also been a crew member on a number of international award winning feature films.
As a multi award winning self-shooting director and cameraman Dom Bush has been part of the TV, documentary and adventure film industries for a number of years.
From roaring sea cliffs to treetop canopies he has produced unique and inspiring content for film festival, web and feature film, working with many top athletes and adventurers along the way.
Central to Dom’s documentary work is an exploration of character and storyline, using originality and strong narrative as powerful creative tools. As well as being part of the Mountain Creative team he runs his own production company and teaches film production at Kendal College.
Dave is a respected photographer and film maker, producing professional content primarily for the adventure racing and outdoor industries.
He has worked throughout Europe and the Arctic, producing promotional films and stills photography in remote, mountain environments for high-end outdoors brands.
Ant is the principal developer for all projects at Mountain Creative. Ant's seventeen years as a developer for names such as Reuters and BT makes him one of the most experienced around. From feature-rich information sites to massively successful, multi-channel e-commerce platforms, Ant's forward-thinking approach means that our websites are easy to manage and update from anywhere at anytime.
In his spare time Ant is a highly accomplished adventure racer and regularly competes in multi-day events.
James has worked in the outdoor industry for almost a decade, taking his technical product knowledge and retail experience from the shop floor and into the digital world in 2009 as an e-commerce manager. James now specialises in search marketing and copywriting for web, as well as providing training and support to our digital customers. He is an avid mountain biker and climber in his free time.
